Product Development & Design
Our product development team travel extensively throughout Europe, the Far East, and the Americas to keep themselves abreast of the latest global trends and market applications. They also continually seek new materials and methods to improve the comfort and hygiene of our footwear.

Our designers adapt innovative concepts to suit our own local and export markets, and we generally produce a number of prototypes for consideration and comment by our customers before we introduce a new design into our range.

Technology
Beier Safety Footwear is at the forefront of manufacturing technology, particularly its polyurethane (PU) and TPU injection process, used in the production of both outer and inner soles.
Pre-programmed robots perform essential functions during this process.
Machinery is imported from Desma of Germany and is widely recognised as being the best available.

PROCESSING THE UPPERS

Small Business Enterprises (SME)
Beier Safety Footwear has invested heavily in establishing SME partners which currently supply the Pinetown factory with all the footwear uppers needed to sustain a 24 hour / 7 day week production schedule.
Ongoing training and strict quality control measures ensure that our SME partners deliver on time and in full.

Components
Our leather is selected for its quality, strength and durability as well as for its water repellent qualities. The polyurethane (PU), from which the inner and outer soles are moulded, is unaffected by oil, acid, and some corrosive chemicals.

The vamp lining in our latest footwear has been completely redesigned and replaced by a viscose felt blend. This unique development, vastly improves breathability, moisture absorption and transfer, resulting in much improved foot comfort and health.

Furthermore all our footwear is fitted with a specially developed and patented foot bed insock made of 100% pure new wool. The underside is made of a mouldable polyester base to maintain the exact foot shape.



The lasted uppers have the steel toe cap inserted and are then toe-lasted. They travel through a heated tunnel which shrinks the leather tight to the last, and before going to the injection machine, they pass through a chiller tunnel which sets the shape of the finished shoe.
