The effects of silver anti-microbial technology on footbed socks, vamp Lining and hosiery socks for protective footwear.

At Beier Safety Footwear, we use the most advanced silver based anti-microbial and anti-fungal technology in the manufacture of our inner and wearing socks of each pair of protective shoes and boots, the main purpose of which is to eliminate body odour, allergies, and infections of the foot. Optimal cleanliness, freshness, and comfort to the wearer can therefore be maintained.

Nano-scale particles of Titanium Dioxide are used to carry the active compound ­Silver Chloride. These minute particles are distributed uniformly and adhere to the sock fabric.

A controlled release of silver and chloride ions is effected, which enter bacteria and fungal spore cells and destroy these organisms in the following way.

  • By blocking the enzymes that transport oxygen.
  • Preventing multiplication of organisms by rendering their sulphur containing proteins inactive.
